Credit-card debt: how about a "bailout" amnesty? ?

Personal debt happens for all kinds of reasons- education expenses, medical issues, loss of employment, and simple overspending. The banks surely need to cut rates and give people some breathing room, that's a fact but I don't think forgiving debt for consumers is the answer. I live in Fla too, and don't know what the connection to 9-11 is unless your employment was somehow effected? Fairness is not an issue in the "real" adult world, and the only thing we can do is vote differently in the future instead of giving our country away to morons as we have in the past.
