It sounds to me that the negative thoughts and feelings you had before you fell asleep (you said you were already crying) caused you to have a nightmare. Nightmares are common, I don't really know to much about connecting dreams to real life, but when you go to bed tonight try to relax by doing some sort of exercise,stretching or watch a funny show. Try not to think about it. When I was a younger I to was paranoid about sleeping because my bad dreams kept me awake, but as I grew older, I tried not to think about it. If it still occurs maybe you should think about seeing a therapist or talk to a doctor. Hope it works out!
