Do cops fight the legalization of marijuana because of ulterior motives?

I guess a finding a cop who agrees with taxation, control and regulation of the cannabis trade is about as likely as finding a lumberjack who wants to save the trees. Does anyone else think it actually helps the just and admirable legalization movement to have cops fighting it? It kinda makes people scratch their head as to why cops are mobilizing their resources in an attempt to squash this patriotic movement. Last I checked, cops were here to enforce the laws, not fight against reform that will take a victimless crime off the books.
