What kind of degree do you need to be a forensic psychologist?

Note - I am speaking of forensic psychology, not forensic science. I have read in some places that you need a doctorate to be a forensic psychologist. Is this true? I was also told by my college career counselor that if you want to be a psychology major, you should be prepared to get a master's degree. I'm rather confused about the whole thing. I'm a freshman in college and I'm only seventeen, so I know I've got time to consider and reconsider, but I'd like to know this now so I can be educated about my choices. I, uh, hope I'm making sense.
